Terms & Conditions
Last updated 13 October 2026
Whitebait Log is provided by 4M Asset Hire Ltd, a company registered in New Zealand at 18 Gorton Street, Gore ("we", "us"). By creating an account or continuing to use Whitebait Log (the "service") you agree to these terms. If you are using the service for an organisation, you confirm you have authority to accept these terms on its behalf; otherwise you confirm you are of legal age to enter into a contract.
The service
Whitebait Log is a mobile-first catch log for whitebaiters. It records your catches, fishing spots, stands and sessions, and shows river, tide, weather and moon information drawn from public regional council and meteorological feeds. Environmental readings and any predicted or suggested conditions are indicative only — always check official sources and fish within your regional whitebait regulations.
Your account
Give accurate details and keep them up to date. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for everything done under your account. A subscription may be shared with one additional angler; you remain responsible for that person's use of the service.
Acceptable use
You must not:
- use the service unlawfully or for fraud, spam or harassment;
- infringe anyone's intellectual property or privacy;
- interfere with the security of the service — no malware, probing, penetration testing, scraping or bypassing technical limits;
- reverse engineer, resell or redistribute the service;
- share account credentials beyond the anglers covered by your subscription.
Your content
You keep ownership of the catches, photos, notes and locations you record. You grant us a limited licence to host and process that content solely to operate the service for you and the angler who shares your subscription. Your logs are private to your subscription — we do not sell them or publish them.
Our intellectual property
We retain ownership of the service, its software, branding and documentation. You get a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service under your current plan.
Payment and subscriptions
Whitebait Log costs NZ$20 per month (about NZ$5 a week), or NZ$40 per year as a season pass, after a 7-day free trial. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Payment, billing, tax, renewal, cancellation and refund mechanics are governed by the Paddle Buyer Terms. Subscriptions renew automatically each month until cancelled; you can cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.
Free tester access
We sometimes issue free tester passes that unlock the full paid features without payment. A pass is tied to the email address we issue it to and applies as soon as you sign in with that address. Passes are personal, non-transferable and have no cash value.
Each pass runs for the period we set when it is issued — usually 30 days — and some are open-ended. We may revoke or let a pass expire at any time, for any reason and without notice, including if the account is shared, misused or the testing programme ends. When a pass ends or is revoked, access reverts to your normal entitlement: if you have no paid subscription or active trial the paid features lock, though your logged catches, spots and stands stay in your account under our retention policy and unlock again if you subscribe.
A tester pass is not a subscription. It does not renew, is not a credit toward a paid plan, and no refund is due when it ends. Feedback you send us about the service may be used to improve Whitebait Log without obligation to you.
Availability and warranties
We work hard to keep the service running, but we do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free or that third-party river, tide and weather feeds will always be available. To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of the service is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profits, lost data or lost fishing opportunity. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury, or any rights you have under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act that cannot be excluded.
Indemnity
You indemnify us against claims arising from your content, your unlawful use of the service, or your breach of these terms.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access for material breach of these terms, non-payment, security or fraud risk, or repeated or serious misuse. You can close your account at any time. When access ends we keep your logs for up to 24 months so you can come back for a later season or export them, after which they are deleted or anonymised. Ask us and we will delete them sooner.
Changes
We may update these terms as the service develops. Material changes will be notified in the app or by email, and continued use after the change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand and the New Zealand courts have exclusive jurisdiction. Questions? Email jimmyrobinson08@gmail.com or write to 4M Asset Hire Ltd, 18 Gorton Street, Gore 9710, New Zealand.
