Connect an AI assistant

You can let ChatGPT, Claude or another AI assistant work with your Whitebait Log account — asking about your spots, stands and catch history, and logging new catches for you. You sign in and approve the connection first, and the assistant only ever sees your own data.

Your connection address

Paste this address into your assistant when it asks for a server or connector URL.

ChatGPT

  1. Open ChatGPT Apps settings and turn on Developer mode (read the risk notice ChatGPT shows there). If you can’t see it, ask your ChatGPT admin to enable it.
  2. Open the new plugin dialog.
  3. Enter the name Whitebait Log and paste the connection address above into the URL field.
  4. Check “I understand and want to continue” (ChatGPT shows this for every custom connection), then click Create and sign in to Whitebait Log when asked.
  5. Turn the app on from the chat box, then ask ChatGPT about your catches.

Claude

  1. Open the Claude custom connector dialog — the name and address are filled in for you.
  2. Check the details and click Add, then sign in to Whitebait Log when asked.
  3. If the dialog doesn’t open, go to Claude’s Connectors page, choose “Add custom connector”, name it Whitebait Log and paste the address above.
  4. Turn the connector on from the chat box, then ask Claude about your catches.

Claude Code

  1. Run this in a terminal:
  2. Start Claude Code and run /mcp to sign in and confirm it’s connected.
  3. Ask Claude Code about your catches.

Other AI assistants

  1. Open the assistant’s MCP server or custom connector settings.
  2. Create a new remote connection.
  3. Name it Whitebait Log and paste the connection address above.
  4. Finish the sign-in and approval prompts.
  5. Turn the connection on, then ask the assistant about your catches.

After the app is updated

Assistants remember what the app could do when you connected it. If something new is missing, refresh the connection:

ChatGPT

  1. Open the Plugins page and select Whitebait Log.
  2. Scroll to “Information” and click Refresh.
  3. ChatGPT can’t change an existing address — if it changed, delete the app and add it again with the address above.
  4. Start a new chat and ask it to use the app.

Claude

  1. Open the Connectors page and select Whitebait Log.
  2. Refresh or update the connector’s tools.
  3. Claude can’t change an existing address — if it changed, remove the connector and add it again.
  4. Ask Claude to use the app.

Claude Code

  1. Start a new session — it picks up the latest version automatically.
  2. If the address changed, run claude mcp remove whitebait-log and run the install command again.

Other assistants

  1. Open the connection settings and select Whitebait Log.
  2. Refresh the tool list, reload or reconnect it.
  3. If the address changed, paste the latest one from above.
  4. Start a new chat and ask the assistant to use the app.
